N.T. - Book of John


For the next couple of posts, I shall 'post' through the book of John.

For a start, Let's look at the overview.

This book of the bible is written by John, and it's mainly for this who believe in God but are not sure if they believe in Jesus Christ (taken from 'N.T. made simple').

According to the book "N.T. made simple", the book of John can be separated into 3 parts:
i) Chapter 1-12: Believe the Son to receive life
ii) Chapter 13-17: Believe the Son loves us
iii) Chapter 18-21: Believe His testimony is truth

I. Believing that God's only Son gives Eternal Life
In chapter 1-12, 7 signs/works of miracles was recorded that points to us that Jesus is indeed the Son of God:
1. Turning water into wine
2. Healing the nobleman's son
3. Healing the impotent man
4. Feeding the five thousand
5. Walking on water and 'teleporting' the disciples
6. Healing the man born blind
7. Raising Lazarus from the dead

This 7 signs can be substantiated into 7 'words' which I will explain when I go into furhter details in the coming entries.

II. Believing the Son is the way to the Father
In this section, it records the sermons of Jesus, which focus on Love. The various sermon 'tests' our belief that He is indeed the Son of God.

III. Believing in the Truth of the Son's Testimony
In this last section of the book, it records for us the suffering of the Son of God for us. It records for us the arrest, the crucifixion, the resurrection, and the appearance of Jesus.

As I go through the book of John, I pray that you will be blessed through the Word.

Jesus is God's ONLY Son
(John 3:16)
He is the ONLY way to the Father
(John 14:6)
His testimony contains ONLY the truth
(John 18:37)
We ONLY have to believe to receive ethernal life
(John 1:12)
ONLY believers who have eternal life can know the Son and the Father who sent Him
(John 17:3)

Devotion: Psalm 121

Psalm 121

I will lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From where shall my help come?
My help comes from the LORD,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD is your keeper;
The LORD is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The LORD will protect you from all evil;
He will keep your soul.
The LORD will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

There are many moutains in our lives, be it studies, work, or other matters in life. How many times have we looked up to the mountains and gave up even before stepping on it. How many times have we cried out for help? But yet has Psalm 121 says: "my help comes from the Lord, the maker of Heaven and Earth."

Alot of times we need help from our friends or our families. But the help we cry out to the Lord for is different. What He can do it much much more.
He is the Lord who made the Heaven and Earth. He is the Lord who need not sleep and choose not to sleep to take care and look after us.
He is the Lord who will not let our foot slip. He is the Lord who protects us from all evil.

This is what the Lord has promised us.
But the question is...
Will you cry out to the Lord for help?

Accepted into NTU

Once again it is proven that God is GOOD!

I have been accepted into NTU, Physics and Applied Physics.

My poly results are somewhat not bad, but still not good enough for it to be named as 'confirm will get into University'. And just waiting for the results of the application into NTU can be quite stress. To think that I only put 4 choices (with the last choice voided because I did not go for the interview with MOE).

People had prayed for me... God telling me not to fear, do not worry. This words I hold on to it tightly, and reminding myself again and again that God will help me get in. But still, thoughts like 'what if I cant get in? what will I do?'. Thus, I prayed hard. Not just to get into NTU, but into the course that I want.

And yes, just last night, I received my answered prayer. NTU had accepted me! And into the course that I want to go.

Isn't God just so so so so great? :D

Life is tough but God is good

Life is never a journey without storms.
Just recently, I had been facing some problems. Problems with holdng leadership position in church to be more specific.
Some of you may think: "waH. Church makes you have more problems. Life have enough of them already". But if you think deeper, you will face storms at the places, things, or people that you are concerned with. What do I mean by that?

Where your treasure is, there your heart will be.
If your treasure is with money, when you lose it you will get very upset. Or when you are not able to earn the amount of money you want (maybe to buy something that you like), you will feel upset and disappointed. If your treasure is your friends, then when your friends refuse to go out with you, or sided with another friend and not you, then you will feel hurt, discouraged, sad. Is your treasure with studies? Then when you will spend the most time to study, and feel sad and depressed when you did not manage to get the marks that you are aimming for. To me, church/God is the most important thing, and thus are problems that comes and hurt the most are from this area.

But yet with the different problems, God is good. It is through the trials that we grow, mold our character to become better and stronger (not in the sense that you cna handle things on your own). Through my time of trial, God sends me the family. Not just physical family, but the spiritual/church family. My sisters and brother in Christ are there to encourage and support me, my leader is there to guide me and teach me. More importantly, God is there to say "My child. I love you for who you are".

Good Friday and easter Sunday had just passed. To me, it is not just another day. Even before friday, God slowly reveals to me His great love. The love that cost the life of His one and only Son to die the most cruel death - the death on the cross. With this love, I know I can hang in there. But more than the death, it's the resurrection of Jesus, which is easter sunday. Because of Jesus' resurrection, I know that I not only have to hang in there with the love of God, I can also carry on with the power of God - the power that had defeated death!

Indeed that if God is WITH me, then who can be AGAINST me?

Easter Miracle Service
